Volkswagen Tiguan GTE Concpet Launched at Detroit, to Come at Auto Expo

The second generation model of Volkswagen Tiguan has finally made debut at ongoing much popular North American International Motor Show organised in Detroit. It will be the first SUV car from VW which is going to use the new MQB platform (Modular Transverse Matrix) and also based on GTE concept. It will be offering with a same plug-in-hybrid powertrain as the Passat GTE consists with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine and two electric motors unite to deliver more power of 222 bhp.

New Volkswagen Tiguan active GTE Concept car comes with either front or rear wheels and all-wheel drive option that depend on the mode we select. Its electric motor delivers the power at rear axle during normal driving while the all wheel drive can be activated with front wheel mounted electric motor and 148 horsepower engine. Volkswagen also states that car will always drive with in EV mode if its battery has enough power to do so.

It is an attempt to surprise the followers with more advanced features, driving modes such as on road, off road, sport, snow, charge and battery hold as well as green E-mode and GTE modes are connected by using different centre console buttons. As we already mentioned in our earlier report about the loaded features like next generation infotainment system included with 9.2-inch touch screen with advanced navigation system, seven seat sitting option, long wheel base, Android Auto and Apple car play, the expectations have been fulfilled.

Coming to the dimensions, the new Volkswagen Tiguan is slightly high with 225 mm of ground clearance. Some other changes are big off road tyres and front and rear bumpers with matt aluminum added to make it more comfortable and safer.
