Hyundai IONIQ Official Images Out Before January Launch

To finally complete the story which is due for its cover image, Hyundai has almost done that work and released some picture of its highly rumoured car IONIQ. The runabout will be first get introduce in three powertrain options that we covered earlier in our report namely electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid. With reports quoting launch to happen in the Korean market in January 2016 prior to country official Motor Show and then it might surprise Indian consumers at Auto Expo, New Delhi.


Based on new platform, Hyundai IONIQ is designed to minimise the formation weight using high strength steel combined with lightweight aluminium, maximize entity and to provide class-leading run per unit electricity or fuel with less emission grams. Hyundai has also considered the low centre of gravity by locating the batteries at its surface.


Head of Project Management Division at Hyundai Motor R&D Center, Rag Jung said, “IONIQ embodies Hyundai Motor’s new thinking and bold ambitions for the future. This world-class dedicated hybrid will be the starting point of our future mobility.”


Coming to the mechanical sync, Hyundai IONIQ will be powered by a 1.6-litre GDI, a four-cylinder engine which is good for 105 PS of power and 146 Nm of torque and it unites with an electronic motor that is generating 43 bhp of power. All the other details like exteriors and interiors can already been seen with its past sketches revealed a few days ago and are listed as cutting-edge aerodynamics design, distinctive headlights with blue and white colors and hexagonal grille.

Some details are yet to come but they are expected at the upcoming Auto Expo in February. Well, the car is loaded with enough features and advanced technology to take on the other cars like Toyota Prius, which is the most popular car in the US market.
